DESCRIPTION:
A family and fisherman's dream amongst majestic white pines loaded with brown and rainbow trout( a bald eagle and an osprey fish out the kitchen window sometimes for breakfast). Spacious 4 season, 3 bedroom log cabin sleeps 8 plus 4 in the loft. Additional Bunkhouse sleeps 4 in beds and 4 more in its loft. Great setup for a two-family vacation or that men's retreat! The deck spans the entire rear 60' of cabin and is 30' off the water.
Dock has bench seating and a westerly view for gorgeous sunsets across river. There are 3 steps into a shallow cove of the river with slow water 12 inches deep for the wee-tots. There's a big firepit with benches and retro chairs to seat 16. There's also a second firepit right on the water's edge for the romantic in all of us. Picnic table for 10.
The main cabin has 2 living rooms with wood-burning fireplaces separated by the full kitchen and dining room. There's also a full bath and another half-bath. The drinking water is cold and clean from the well, tastes great and is less filling! The interior is 100% knotty pine with authentic rustic decor. The bunkhouse has a woodburner or electric heat, a sitting area and a TV with a DVD.
Outside there's horseshoe pits, bocci ball, a basketball court, an actual tree house for the kids, a volleyball court, tubes, rafts, and of course swimming.
Bull Gap ORV area is a 5 minute ride, groomed cross-country ski trails are 10 minutes (or cut your own thru the wilderness), Garland or Forest Dunes Golf are 30 minutes with a few inexpensive ones closer, and great dining in town just 10 minutes out.
The area is well known for its grouse and deer hunting, the list just goes on and on.Oh, one more thing - THE FISHING!!
This stretch is called the Trophy Water or Big Water. Its wide but not deep so its easy to fish. Browns up to 25" are around for a big-time challenge and there's lots of 8-14" for the beginners in your group. Easy fishing just a short cast from the dock for the youngest of fisherpeople. There's a really big riffle just 50 yards upstream for nymphing and deeper runs on the far side. Bigger holes going downstream. Great hatches too, brown drakes and white flies are heavy here. Many guides bring their clients thru here, check with Bob Linseman at the Au Sable Angler in MIo for all your fly fishing needs or great guides. There's also many put-in/take-out points with all this Federal land. We recommend Gotts Landing for all your float trips, even to the Holy Waters or the Mason Tract (30 minutes). Maps are at the cabin.
